Brooke Walker reportingA group of rabbit hunters is safe tonight after being stuck in the mountains near Snowville.

Rescue crews spent a good part of the day trying to find them and caught a break when they finally reached the men by phone.

The men say they had heat and food inside their truck, but it was still a camping trip they wish they weren't forced to take.

A great place to hunt, but a difficult place to search: Rescuers arrived near the Hogup Mountains in western Box Elder County early this afternoon to look for the three missing hunters.

When they never showed up, family members became concerned. One of the hunters is a diabetic, so there was concern he might not have his medication.

But as it turns out...

"We just got stuck in the mud"

Really stuck. The men ended up having to camp out in their truck. They spent the night worrying about family members they knew were worried about them.

Jess Nielsen, Rescued Hunter: "None of our phones worked, so we could call nobody. It was snowing last night, so we couldn't really go nowhere."

This afternoon the men started walking back to the main road when another hunter loaned them a phone. They were slightly embarrassed about all the attention but overall�

Cordell Thompson Box Elder County Search & Rescue: "They were just grateful someone found them"


Late Saturday night, a snowmobiler was rescued near White Valley in Box Elder County, after he became disoriented.

Rescue teams found him about 9:30 p.m. but it took several hours to bring him out to a road and get medical help.

He was suffered minor frostbite.


Another snowmobiler got stuck in Summit County, east of Coalville. A man called rescue crews when he became separated from his girlfriend late last night.

A helicopter was able to find her early this morning. She was taken to a Wyoming hospital in good condition.
