CAMP WILLIAMS, Salt Lake County — The Utah National Guard's 142nd Military Intelligence Battalion will conduct a change-of-command ceremony Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Camp Williams.

Lt. Col. Steve Stevens, will relinquish command to Lt. Col. Joseph Green.

Stevens, a Lehi resident, has served 23 years in the Utah National Guard. He is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he deployed as commander of Charlie Company, 142nd Military Intelligence Battalion, in 2003-04.

In 2010, while commander of the 142nd, Stevens received the prestigious Rochefort Award, which recognizes individuals who have excelled in the field of cryptologic linguistics.

Green, a resident of West Jordan, joined the Utah National Guard in 1993 and received his commission in 1996. He has served as a platoon leader, executive officer, operations officer and company commander.

Green deployed in 2003-04 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and again in 2008-09 to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. He is the full-time administrative officer for the 300th Military Intelligence Brigade.

Green assumes command of more than 400 soldiers based in Ogden, Orem, Draper and Salt Lake City.
