KEARNS -- Police are trying to figure out why a driver lost control of a minivan and crashed into a bridge.
It happened at 4000 West and 4700 South in Kearns around 9:30 p.m. Monday.
The crash injured three people inside the van. One of them is in critical condition.
Sgt. Paul Barker of the Unified Police Department says the van veered across traffic lanes and hit the bridge.
"In a way it was lucky it hit the bridge because to the right is a canal of water. The vehicle would have ended up in the water," he said.
Police don't suspect drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
