Reading, of course, is fundamental and essential to every child's success, both academically and throughout life. It is why KSL has chosen to team with the Governor's Commission on Literacy and the Ken Garff Automotive Group to help make reading a central part of every child's educational experience at home and at school.
The program is called "Road to Success."
The objective is to have every child read or be read to at least 20 minutes every day. You'll be hearing a lot about "Road to Success" as a new school year gets underway and schools throughout Utah sign up to participate in the program. Schools will establish specific reading goals. Prizes and a variety of fun activities will encourage participation throughout the year. A key, of course, will be parental involvement.
KSL is partnering in this effort because of our firm conviction in the value of early childhood reading. Research shows that kids need to be reading at grade level by third grade or they'll likely flounder through the remainder of their school years. Early literacy will pay dividends for a lifetime.
We encourage schools across the state to participate in this promising effort to put every Utah student on the "Road to Success."
