(KSL News) A Mountain View high school coach who came under fire after a team road trip is retiring.

The Alpine School District asked Dave Houle to continue with his teaching duties, but he declined.

Houle received criticism for allowing two of his female athletes to stay in his hotel room when they had problems with their roomates. Houle says he spent the night in the hallway.

An investigation by the district found no misconduct by the coach.

Houle retires with dozens of state championships to his credit as well as a spot in the National Coaches Hall of Fame..
