(KSL News) -- Staff at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center had an emergency this evening they've never dealt with before.

They say a drunk patient was being treated in an emergency room and had on an oxygen mask. He lit a cigarette, depsite being told not to, and the mask caught on fire.

The staff was able to quickly put the fire out, but patients in that area had to be taken to another part of the hospital to get away from all the smoke.

The damage was contained to one room and the hospital is back accepting patients again.

The man who lit the cigarette was taken to University of Utah Medical Center. He should be okay.
