(KSL News) -- Utahns were freezing for a reason this morning. Despite 30-degree weather, about a hundred participants got wet to raise money for the Special Olympics. The plunge took place at four locations across the state.
People in Logan, Midway, Pleasant Grove and the Great Salt Lake Marina paid 20-dollars to participate. Many had pledges from supporters who did not want to get wet themselves. Some dressed up for the pre-event activities and stripped down to swimsuits to slide into the cold water. Others dove right in, costume and all.
Jeff Isom: "It actually feels pretty warm right now, getting out of the water so I'm feeling pretty good, but I'm thinking I'm pretty crazy."
Terry Beck: "We gave our 20-bucks and decided to freeze our tail off just because it's a great cause and it's worth it."
This is the second year for the polar plunge. Last year it raised over $400.
