TAYLORSVILLE ā The new public health lab in Taylorsville now has a new way to get power.
Next to the lab, which is located at 4431 S. 2700 West, is a solar panel park. There, the picnic tables are shaded by solar panels.
"We are now generating a small amount of our own electrical power out of this beautiful solar park," said Teresa Garrets, with the Utah Department of Health.
Right now the panels can power 25 computers and 75 light bulbs at the lab, but the project is not done.
Garrets says the health department is about ready to start the next phase, which will add more solar panels ā these ones will shade parked cars.
Eventually, the health department hopes to to tap into wind and geothermal energy in the park as well.
