(KSL News) The slippery weather may have caused a criminal to slow down, as he ran from police.
Overnight, a trooper tried to pull over a car speeding in West Valley City. The driver wouldn't stop.
Turns out he's a wanted fugutive named Zachary Salinas. And though he tried to get away, Salinas didn't drive very fast. He went about 20 miles an hour through residential areas, and stayed below 50 on the main roads.
Troopers say they're grateful the chase didn't get faster on the icy streets.
Sgt. Keith Docstader, UHP: "Pursuits are always scary to begin with. Fortunately this one was slow. We don't know if the driver was concerned about weather. We're fortunate no collision was involved."
That's right-- no crash. Salinas just suddenly stopped, then got out of the car and ran on foot. Officers tasered him as he tried to jump over a fence.
