(KSL News) Snow is slowing the morning commute in some areas of Northern Utah. The severity of the problem really depends on location.
The south end of the Salt Lake Valley, and Utah and Tooele counties got the majority of the snow. Several slide offs, including that of a snow plow, were reported in Utah County this morning.
At various times, wrecks slowed traffic in the Highland-Alping-Lehi area, and near 90th South in Sandy. Roads were reportedly icy in Tooele County all the way to Wendover.
Earlier, a semi truck jacknifed going eastbound on State road 199, so most eastbound lanes were closed, and traffic was very restricted.
Not much snow fell on the east bench of Salt Lake and parts of Davis County. But one ski resort reported 14 inches of snow in 3 1/2 hours.
More than 1,800 Utah homes are without power this morning. Utah Power suspects it's because of the storm.
In Ogden, a car crashed into some equipment leaving some 1,400 without power. Walquist Jr. High in Ogden and Pioneer Elementary in Harrisville are also closed due to lack of electricity.
In Park City, power went out in 350 homes. Utah Power doesn't know yet what caused that outage. Two earlier power outages in Salt Lake and American Fork have been fixed.
