UTAH STATE PRISON — An inmate was flown to University Hospital in critical condition Tuesday with a stab wound to the chest, officials said.
Prison medical staff called 911 at 11:20 a.m. to request a helicopter for the 25-year-old victim, Unified Fire Capt. Cliff Burningham said.
The attack occurred in the prison's high-security area, which was still in lockdown Tuesday afternoon, prison spokesman Steve Gehrke said.
