(KSL News) A Pacific storm snarls traffic in the Sierra Nevadas. It's so bad that tractor-trailers are being held at the Nevada-California line.
The storm is expected to dump five to eight inches before it leaves in the morning. Then, it comes here.
We are expecting several inches in the valleys, with more on the benches and in the mountains. Check the weather page for the full forecast.
A special avalanche warning has been issued for all Utah mountains. The Forest Service Utah avalanche center says the avalance danger will increase rapidly tonight and into Monday as that strong Pacific storm moves through.
The warning does not include ski areas and highways. But if you're planning any backcountry activities, contact the avalanche center for more information. The number is 1-800-648-7433. It's recommended those without avalanche skills avoid the backcountry altogether.
