ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) -- A public vigil was planned Friday night for a former Aberdeen woman who was killed in Kearns, Utah.
The American News reports that the five-hour vigil for 22-year-old Christina Harms was being held in a city park, following her funeral in Aberdeen earlier in the day.
Three former Aberdeen residents are charged in Utah in Harms' death. They are Harms' live-in caregiver and legal guardian, Cassandra Shepard, and Shepard's mother and stepfather, Sherrie and Dale Beckering. Shepard faces the most serious charge -- murder.
Authorities say Harms was disabled and had a diminished mental capacity. They say she was constantly kept in a small closet, bound crucifixion-style to a metal bar, and was abused.
Police say Harms had only lived in Kearns since January.
