Keith McCord ReportingGovernor Huntsman showed another side of himself last night, during a preview of the Utah International Auto Show. Following some brief remarks to some of Utah's long time auto dealership owners, he joined a rock band on stage.
Governors are busy people. Usually we see them making public appearances, signing documents, putting new laws into effect, and continually working with lawmakers. Utah Governor Jon Huntsman Jr. certainly does all that, but last night he took off his governor's hat and convincingly "tickled some ivories"!
The governor joined Utah auto dealer Brent Brown, on guitar, and others for a jam session. Both Huntsman and Brown said they played in rock and roll bands in high school and they've always wanted to try something together. So, without rehearsing, they played that old Chuck Berry classic, "Johnny B. Good".
Before sitting at the keyboard the governor mentioned that he has a busy week ahead. The 2006 session of the legislature begins Monday and he told the auto dealers last night that he's still finalizing his "State of the State" speech that he'll deliver on Tuesday.
