EUREKA -- A Grantsville man was killed in a fiery wreck on SR 6 south of Eureka Thursday.
According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, a northbound Chevy 2500 drifted off the road to the right, returned to the left and slid into oncoming traffic. An oncoming Ford F250 hit the Chevy and both vehicles spun 90 degrees. After coming to rest, the first vehicle caught on fire.
The fire fully engulfed both vehicles.
Witnesses were able to get the driver out of the second vehicle. One of the witnesses was a medical doctor and said the driver of the first vehicle -- identified as Rod Miller -- was an obvious fatal with head injuries. They were unable to remove him from the car.
The driver of the Ford -- 41-year-old Jack Naplin of Grantsville -- suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.
Investigators said alcohol was found at the scene but it's unclear whether that was a contributing factor.
