SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Part of the Salt Lake Plaza Hotel could soon house LDS Business College students.

The real estate arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints say it's negotiating to buy out the lease of the hotel, which is located in downtown Salt Lake.

Church officials say they would continue to use the majority of the building as a hotel, while the rest would house students.

The LDS Business College is expected to move to downtown Salt Lake into the Triad Center this fall.

City officials say the move is key to the overall downtown revitalization plan. In 2003, church officials announced a 500 million dollar remodeling and revitalization plan for Salt Lake's two downtown malls, which are both owned by the church.
