PROVO, Utah (AP) -- The woman sentenced to prison for the death of her four-year-old adopted daughter may NOT have to begin serving her sentence this week.
That's according to her defense attorney, who says he plans to file a notice of appeal with the courts. Jennete Killpack's attorney says he will petition the courts to hear the case for many issues raised during the trial.
Thirty-year-old Killpack was found guilty of child abuse homicide in October and was sentenced to serve one to 15 years in prison. She's suppose to begin that sentence this Friday.
Killpack's attorney won't speculate on the chances of being granted an immediate hearing, saying only it's a possibility but time is NOT on their side.
