SALT LAKE CITY — One person was in extremely critical condition Monday and another in serious condition after both were hit by an alleged drunk driver.
Just after midnight Monday, a 41-year-old man was on a bicycle and a 26-year-old female was walking on 600 West near 60 South when a Jeep Cherokee left the road and hit both, according to a Salt Lake County Jail report.
The driver of the Jeep was given field sobriety tests and "failed them all," the report states. Police administered a breath test and the driver blew a .179, more than twice the legal limit.
Boyd Kenneth Petrie was booked into jail for investigation of two felony counts of DUI causing serious bodily injury, and driving on a suspended license.
