Fulton County residents are invited to attend a series of public hearings from Tuesday through Jan. 19 to discuss FRESH funding for children and youth services. FRESH, which stands for Fulton Roundtable Expanded Service Headquarters, awards annual grants to community-based organizations to improve existing programs for young people up to age 18.
Community advisory boards will conduct the 7 p.m. hearings and consider comments when they recommend grant recipients to the Fulton County Commission, which will make the final choices. Hearings will be held in these locations:
> Tuesday (central and northwest Atlanta, Southwest Fulton --- District 5): Harriett G. Darnell Senior Multipurpose Facility, 677 Fairburn Road N.W.
> Jan. 12 (central and east Atlanta --- District 6): Helene S. Mills Senior Multipurpose Facility, 515 John Wesley Dobbs Ave.
> Jan. 17 (north Atlanta and Sandy Springs --- District 4): Dorothy C. Benson Senior Multipurpose Complex, 6500 Vernon Woods Drive, Sandy Springs
> Jan.18 (north Fulton, Alpharetta, Roswell --- District 3): Alpharetta Library, 238 Canton St.
> Jan.19 (south Fulton --- District 7): South Fulton Service Center, 5600 Stonewall Tell Road, College Park
Funding applications, which will be available at the hearings, must be submitted by 3 p.m. Feb. 10 to the Fulton County Human Services Department's Office of Children and Youth. For more information, call Robert Frady at 404-730-7944.
