PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Now that holiday season is officially over, Utah County is beginning the task of picking up and recycling Christmas trees.
Now through the end of January, Utah County residents are asked to put their holiday trees on the curb the day of their garbage pickup. A special truck will then pick them up, where they will be mulched and used for composting.
Orem is also providing trash bins marked for Christmas tree pickup in various city parks. However, residents should NOT leave trees at parks where a trash bin or designated area have NOT been provided, on school district properties or curbside.
Most cities have posted specific instructions on tree disposal with current utility bills.
