SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah Supreme Court today denied a request to move the trial of Warren Jeffs to Salt Lake City.
Jeffs is the leader of a polygamous sect, the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He's charged with rape as an accomplice in the spiritual marriage of a 14-year-old girl to a 19-year-old cousin.
Jeffs' attorneys claim he can't get a fair trial in St. George because there's been too much publicity. The judge, however, says he won't know if the local jury pool is biased until a jury is picked. Trial is set for September.
