OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- The site of a $13 million hotel project in Ogden may attract additional retail businesses and restaurants.

The Standard-Examiner of Ogden says developer Kevin Garn is in discussion with multiple national chains to build on 15,000 square feet of land adjacent to the hotel.

Construction on the 125-room Hilton Garden Inn is expected to begin this summer and will take about a year.

The hotel is part of The Junction development in downtown Ogden.

Ogden's economic development director Richard McConkie says additional businesses would complement The Junction project.

The hotel is primarily being financed by Garn, although the Ogden Redevelopment Agency has contributed $1.5 million in bonds.
