SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- No surprise here. It's been hot. The National Weather Service yesterday evening reported some temperatures for the record books: In Alta, the high temperature was 79 degrees, tying the 2001 record of 79. In Brian Head, it was 88, a big increase over the 1994 record of 79 degrees. And at Bryce Canyon airport, the high yesterday was 89 degrees, breaking the 2002 record of 88.
Several locations reported triple-digit temperatures yesterday, but they weren't records.
In Milford, it was 101 degrees. In Canyonlands, it was 102. Delta topped out at 103 degrees. Hanksville hit 106. Zion National Park registered 107 degrees and St. George was scorching at 108.
And the National Weather Service says it's going to be hot and dry again today.
