HURRICANE -- Authorities are investigating the death of an inmate Monday at the Purgatory Correctional Facility.
Security staff found the inmate unresponsive at 5:15 p.m. and called for medical personnel, who pronounced the inmate dead a short time later, officials said.
Washington County Chief Sheriff's Deputy Jake Schultz said investigators needed to interview 30 to 40 people Monday night. He did not expect to release more information until Tuesday.
Schultz said there were no signs of foul play.
