OSLO, Norway, Dec 19, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Prosecutors in Oslo, Norway, Monday indicted six men in the August 2004 theft of two paintings by Edvard Munch.
Two armed masked men took Munch's "Scream" and "Madonna" off the walls of Oslo's Munch Museum Aug. 22, 2004, while a third man waited in a black Audi. The burned car was later found nearby.
Three of the men indicted Monday are already in custody and the other three were being sought, Aftenposten reported.
Five of the suspects were indicted on charges of aggravated robbery tied to organized crime, which could result in prison terms of up to 17 years.
The sixth suspect faces a charge of fencing for allegedly hiding the paintings -- neither of which has been found.
