Almond was named the Conference USA Player of the Year last season after setting league records with 844 points scored, 241 free throws and a 26-point-four scoring average. He was third in the nation in scoring and ranked fourth in the conference in rebounding at six-point-six per game. Almond hit the 30-point mark ten times, including a pair of 40-point games.

The six-six Almond also paced Conference USA in scoring as a junior and was tenth in rebounds, averaging 21-point-nine points and five-point-eight boards. He was a career 49-percent shooter at Rice and hit 82 percent of his free throws while going to the line 507 times.

Almond shot nearly 44 percent from three-point range in college and is extremely tough to defend. He will fight his way through screens and shed defenders before receiving the pass.

The Jazz also selected Herbert Hill with their second round, 55th pick.
