(KSL News) Two people died in a crash today on Highway 89.

Investigators say a pickup truck, near Layton, for some reason swerved into oncoming traffic and hit a small car head-on.

Witness Kevin Aure said, "I hear the cars go by all the time, so I knew exactly what it was. But it was so, the compression was so, I could feel it, and I knew it was a bad one."

The crash killed a woman and a boy in the small car. Two other children were injured, one critically.

The driver of the pickup truck also went to the hospital.

Investigators are trying to figure out what caused the driver to cross lanes.
