SALT LAKE CITY — The desire to make a quick buck led to criminal charges against a man after police say they pulled a stolen iPod docking station from his trousers.
According to documents filed in 3rd District Court on Thursday, the American Fork man, 50, helped himself to three flashlights on Sept. 22 at the Walmart store in Sandy.
The theft was discovered the next day after an employee found the empty packaging and began to review surveillance footage. While she was looking at the tape, she noticed that the current activity on the monitor showed the same man had returned to the business.
Another co-worker went to the floor to observe the man and saw him place the iPod docking station in his pants.
Police were called, and after he made his way past all the cash registers, he was detained.
The docking station, which the man said he intended to pawn, was recovered from his pants.
