NEW YORK, Dec 15, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- CNN anchor Nancy Grace has filed a civil suit in New York's Manhattan Supreme Court seeking punitive damages from an alleged stalker.

Grace has a temporary restraining order against Joseph Raymond Loegering, 48, who is currently in the psychiatric ward at St. Luke's Hospital, the New York Daily News reported Thursday.

Loegering "is apparently obsessed with Ms. Grace, believes that he loves her, insists that she can solve all of his problems and will help him to meet with Osama Bin Laden," Grace charged in her suit.

The suit said Loegering -- who has a history of weapons and drugs arrests -- began e-mailing and phoning Grace Nov. 18, then showed up "agitated and desperate" at the Time Warner Center Dec. 2, the suit said.

He left her a message last week, the suit alleged, saying: "I love you Nancy and I always will."

Grace is seeking financial return for emotional distress, because Loegering has made her "very anxious and concerned for her safety."

The Daily News found Loegering's mom in Missouri who said, "He doesn't have anything. I hope she's not suing me."
