SALT LAKE CITY (KSL News Services) -- Be careful. Criminals are on the prowl this holiday season looking to scam you with fraudulent investments because of your holiday cheer.
Utah Division of Securities Director Wayne Klein says his office sees investment fraud year-round but the fraud rate picks up during the holiday season. He says make sure the securities are registered and the salesperson is licensed before you make any investment.
Klein also says people are simply more trusting during the holidays and ask fewer questions. He says investment fraud costs Utah residents more than 100-million dollars every year.
