SALT LAKE CITY -- The Salt Lake County Council on Tuesday authorized Sim Gill, the newly-elected District Attorney for Salt Lake County, to create three additional exempt attorney positions to accommodate the reorganization of his office. The positions will be funded within the office's current budget.

Gill said the positions are for his chief deputies, two for the office's criminal caseload and a third for its civil responsibilities. The exempt slots will help ensure "the success of the transition and help us achieve the policy objectives of the office," Gill said.
