SOUTH SALT LAKE -- South Salt Lake police are looking for a man who burglarized a grocery store and threatened an employee.
A 38-year-old employee called police to the Reams grocery store at 2783 S. State St. at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19, to investigate a burglary.
When officers arrived, they found the store's glass door broken and the employee who had called police inside. The employee said he was cleaning the floors when he heard glass breaking. He says he went to investigate and was confronted by a burglar who told him to go to the back of the store or the burglar would kill him.
The burglar did not show a weapon and the store employee was not injured.
Surveillance video shows a suspect filling a backpack with cartons of cigarettes and making three trips in and out of the store.
Police say the stolen cigarettes and damage to the door will exceed $5,000.
The suspect is described as a man with a dark complexion, about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a brown hoodie.
