PROVO, Utah (AP) -- The Utah County Health Department is offering a seven-week course for people who may be at risk of ending up in the hospital after a fall.

Utah Department of Health statistics show people older than 65 in Lehi, American Fork, Pleasant Grove and Orem were the most likely in Utah to be hospitalized after a fall.

Statewide, almost 36,000 Utahns 65 years and older went to the hospital with fall-related injuries from 2001 to 2005.

The Daily Herald of Provo reported that men are more likely to die from fall-related injuries, but women were responsible for 70 percent of the hospitalizations and emergency room visits.

The Utah County course is designed to help seniors be more physically active and educated them on how to avoid falling.
