(KSL News) A woman is in the hospital after her husband allegedly clubbed her over the head, popping her eyeball out of its socket.

Police say 60-year-old Duane Sorensen was in his backyard near 4300 West 5500 South when he got into an argument with his wife. They say he then grabbed a piece of wood and clubbed her over the head. It cracked her skull and popped her eyeball out of its socket.

She was flown to the University of Utah Hospital. He was booked into jail on charges of aggravated assault, domestic assault and mayhem.

We researched Sorensen and found he has been previously booked into jail on charges of domestic abuse and DUI.
