SALT LAKE CITY -- Fire forced a family of six out of their Salt Lake home Wednesday night.
Crews arrived at the house near 700 West and 200 North around 11:20 p.m. They found heavy smoke and flames shooting from the attic. All family members had exited the home safely.
Capt. Darren Baum of the Salt Lake City Fire Department said this fire was not easy to fight.
"There were some remodels done in this home, so we had a hard time getting to the seed of the fire. It took more than just cutting through one roof to get to the fire," he explained.
Firefighters attacked the flames from the roof and the ground. They say the attic and roof sustained significant damage.
No word yet on the cause.
The family is staying with relatives.
