(KSL News) -- The Salt Lake City planning commission has rejected a plan to turn unused cemetery land into a site for a private school expansion.
Rowland Hall Saint Mark's school was trying to buy the land from Mount Olivet Cemetery, but the sale was contingent on the rezoning. And last night the commission overwhelming voted to keep the land in question open space -- rather than rezone it for institutional use.
Mount Olivet officials say they will still try to sell the land in order to raise money for cemetery upkeep.
