SALT LAKE CITY -- A man was killed Wednesday after being hit by a UTA bus. It happened around 7:45 p.m. at the intersection of 400 South and 500 East.

Witnesses tell police the man was crossing 400 South against the red light and the westbound bus hit him.

Salt Lake City Lt. Melodie Gray said, "Our victim was wearing dark clothing, crossing against a red light, the bus driver just did not even see him."

Police say the 81-year-old homeless man died at the hospital. He was pushing a grocery cart full of clothes and other personal items.
