Hurricane Tigers 38, Delta Rabbits 7

Hadley Myers scored late for Delta to avoid the shutout. Hurricane advances to the 3A state championship game for the third consecutive year. The Tigers did it with a run game that would make Air Force jealous. Junior Brian Scott rushed for 149 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jarom Healey wasn't far behind with 130 yards and 2 touchdowns. Trey Smith also added 88 yards on the ground including a 45 yard touchdown. Hurricane will face the winner of the semifinal between Juan Diego and Judge.

Corey Edwards boots a 22 yard field goal to give the Tigers a 38-0 lead. Hurricane can start making travel plans for next Friday.

Hurricane has been good this season defensively. They give up just 14 points a game which is 3rd best in 3A. But they have yet to record a shutout this season. If they keep Delta out of the end zone in the final quarter this would be their first.

Another Hurricane drive and another touchdown. It's Brian Scott again, this time a 9-yard run. The Tigers convert on the two point conversion.

Halftime stats: The Tigers have rushed for 228 yards in the first half. Jarom Healey has 136 yards on 9 carries and 2 touchdowns. He is averaging 15 yards a carry. Delta did not complete a pass in the first half.

The first half ends with an interception. The Tigers Mccrae Viafanua picked off the pass by Colin Christensen and both teams head to the locker room.

So much for my previous entry. Hurricane scores another touchdown as Brian Scott finds a big hole and runs into the end zone from 22 yards. Tigers running away with this one.

This is the 2nd meeting between Hurricane and Delta this season. The first meeting took place in week 2. Hurricane had a 20-0 lead at halftime in that game. The final score was 20-8. I wonder if we see the same thing again.

Another sack by the Hurricane defense forces a punt and, thanks to a nice return by Healey, the Tigers have the ball at their own 44 yard line.

Mccrae Viafanua with another big play for the Tigers sacks Christensen and Delta faces 3rd and 10.

The Delta drive ends with an interception. Hurricane's Mccrae Viafanua gets the pick but then the Tigers fumble the ball and give it right back to Delta who starts first and 10 on the Tigers 39 yard line.

Delta quarterback Colin Christensen made a nice play to avoid the sack and then scrambled 14 yards for a first down. Delta is in Hurricane territory at the 32 yard line.

Guess who just scored? Yes, Jarom Healey. He takes the 2nd play of the quarter 30 yards for a score. Hurricane is dominating this football game.

Hurricane running back Jarom Healey is very good. He has 92 yards on six carries in the 1st quarter. The Tigers gained more than 170 yards of total offense in the quarter.

Hurricane starts their 2nd drive on the Delta 38-yard line. The first play is a handoff to Jarom Healey and he runs untouched for another Hurricane touchdown. The extra point is no good. Less than 5 minutes into this game the Tigers have a two score lead.

Sorry for the late start. Just wrapped up a live report during our 6pm newscast. Hurricane scores first on a two-play, 60 yard drive that ended with a 45 yard touchdown run by Trey Smith. Jarom Healey had a 23 yard run on the drive.
