(KSL News) A Kaysville soldier received a national award for bringing all his troops home safely. But his friend decided he needed some local recognition.

Kody Stewart nominated 1st Lt. Stuart L. Owens for a High 5. Owens is a member of the Army Reserve who recently returned home from Iraq, and received the General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award.

"In you bringing home all your troops, all those families, all those parents need to recognize you as the one that did that," Stewart said.

Owens was grateful, and said, "You can be a great leader, but you can't be it without great soldiers to lead."

As part of our High 5, he received a KSL goodie bag that included gift certificates to Dairy Queen.
