According to The Spectrum, a Hurricane police officer was filling up his car with gas Sunday when he noticed Dorothy Rose Silva-Sauser wandering around the gas station acting strangely.
He called for back-up. The other officer asked Silva-Sauser to open the back of the U-Haul she was driving. Inside they found not only the 2-year-old, but a 16-year-old girl and a 19-year-old male.
The 16-year-old was taken to the Dixie Area Detention Center where officers discovered she had a baggie of suspected marijuana hidden inside her clothing. She also had a purse with her in the U-Haul that contained cigarettes, drug paraphernalia, and a controlled substance. She was charged accordingly.
The 2-year-old is with DCFS.
The grandmother, 69-year-old Silva-Sauser, was taken to Dixie Care and Share in St. George. Nineteen-year-old Arron Joseph Silva was taken into custody on suspicion of child endangerment.
