Greg Neft, KSL NewsradioA new form of laser technology is freeing people of tattoos, with less pain.

Sarvis Berry is getting an old tattoo lifted and says it does hurt a little. "A bunch of little rubber bands snapping at the same time," he describes.

It could have been a lot worse, but he's having it done with a different kind of laser that's less invasive.

"It's actually able to permeate through the skin without cutting the skin," says Steve Carlston who owns InkLifters in Sandy. He says older laser technology can't match it. "It can be a fairly bloody procedure."

Nurse Practioner Lynne McMillian says it's not without after effects, "it will kind of welt up a little," but there should be no scarring.
