The University of Utah marching band is hoping it won't have to stay home when the Ute's football team travels to South Bend, Ind., to take on Notre Dame on Nov. 13.

Drum major Tevita Uesi says he had the greatest experience of his college career when the band went to play at the Sugar Bowl. He's hoping to add another once-in-a-lifetime memory by performing for his school in one of the most storied stadiums in college football.

"It's just hard to express how excited we are and what an honor it would be for us to head out to Notre Dame," said Uesi. "I'm hoping that, we pray that we can take the band out there just to go out there and share the music, as well as the pride of Utah and to support the team."

It costs an estimated $120,00 to take the band of roughly 200 students along with staff on the trip. Most of that has been taken care of by the university, but the School of Music still needs to raise $30,000 on its own.

So far with the help of donors, they've raised $20,000; however, time is running out to come up with the remaining $10,000.

Uesi says the band helps bring out the college football environment and atmosphere.

He said, "Of course we are there to support the team no matter what. It's just a great feeling to go out there and play."

The band's website says "it just won't feel right without the Marching Utes belting out "Utah Man" from the stands after every score!"
