OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- A couple have been accused of unlawful sex with a 14-year-old Layton girl.

Steven Chester Brooks, 29, and Danielle Brooks, 28, are charged in Weber County with three counts each of third-degree felony unlawful sexual activity with a minor in North Ogden.

A preliminary hearing was set Monday for Dec. 12 before Judge John R. Morris.

Steven Brooks also is charged in Davis County with another felony count of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, said Layton police Sgt. Travis Lyman. The charge involves the same Layton girl.

North Ogden police Chief Polo Afuvai said the purported sexual activity allegedly was ongoing from April 2004 to last January.

"Some of the acts occurred in our city," Afuvai said.

The Brooks have since moved back to Ogden, he said, where they had previously lived.

Afuvai said Layton police contacted his department about their suspicions, and a joint investigation was conducted by North Ogden Detective Bill Aschlimann and Layton Detective Jeff Roderick.
