WEBER COUNTY -- In Weber County, candidates like Randy Rounds had signs out trying to get votes for state representative. Gov. Gary Herbert had signs hoping voters would keep him in office, and Mike Bachman posted signs in an effort to be your plumber.

Bachman isn't really running for office, but he says with all the political candidates out there advertising for a job, why can't he?

He says, "Some of the politicians say it's unfair and I shouldn't be doing it, but I don't care."

Bachman only has about 50 signs throughout the Ogden and Weber county area, but just like for politicians, the signs can work. He says he gets business from it and actually does quite well.

Plumbing has been in the Bachman family since 1915. Mike is fourth generation, and he decided to do campaign-style signs about 25 years ago.

He says, "The first signs I did were little cardboard signs and, when it rained, they'd all fall apart."

Running as a bi-partisan candidate, Mike says he's undefeated, but admits you never know when the competition may decide to do its own campaign signs.

"I haven't had anyone do it so far," Mike says, "but they're welcome to come, I guess, if they like."

He was so confident this year, though, that he already paid for his winning newspaper ad.

"I run an ad in the paper the day after and it says, 'Thank you for voting for Mike Bachman for plumber.'"
