SALT LAKE CITY -- They had Halloween masks on, but they weren't trick-or-treating -- police are looking for two men who they say robbed the U.S. Bank at 2243 E. 2100 South Friday afternoon.

Investigators say two men were seen brandishing a handgun going into the bank and they were dressed for the holiday.

"They were each wearing a Halloween mask -- one was a skeleton; one was a pumpkin mask," said Salt Lake police Lt. Isaac Atencio.

Atencio said the two robbed the bank then ran north, hopping over a fence into a residential block.

They may have been spotted by Sherrie Collier, who says she saw two men coming from the backyard of the home across the street.

"They came down the driveway across the street and they said, ‘Happy Halloween!' So, I turned and said, ‘To you too!'" Collier said.

The men were not wearing masks during this friendly exchange. Collie said they got into a silver minivan and drove away.

Meanwhile, police say Halloween makes finding the suspects even more difficult than usual.

"Having Halloween fall on Sunday, we do have people that are already out today wearing masks; and Halloween parties tonight, Saturday and Sunday. So, It's tough on law enforcement to deal with these types of situations," Atencio said.

Anyone with any information on the robbery is asked to call Salt Lake City police at 801-799-3000.
