SALT LAKE CITY -- Salt Lake City's the Road Home homeless shelter received a very special gift Friday when The Salt Lake Board of Realtors presented the organization with a $22,000 check.

The money was raised at a charity dinner and auction. Road Home officials say the money will go a long way.

"It's going to help us provide shelter for over 2,000 people over the course of this winter," said Road Home executive director Matt Minkevitch. "We're tremendously grateful to the Board of Realtors. We could not do it without their support."

Administrators of the Road Home say they have seen a dramatic increase in the number of families looking for support. The money will be used for basic shelter operations.
