OXFORD, England, Nov 11, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Britian's royal photographer Patrick Lichfield died in Oxford, England, Friday, one day after suffering a stroke at age 66.

Queen Elizabeth said she was "deeply saddened" by the death of her cousin, who was the official photographer of at the 1981 wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, the BBC reported.

Lichfield was visiting friends in Oxford when he suffered a major stroke.

Lichfield was the preferred photographer of many celebrities during his 40-year career. He worked for Vogue magazine as well ad campaigns from fashion to tobacco to pharmaceuticals, the BBC said.

He is survived by his longtime partner, Annunziata Asquith, and three children.
