MORGAN, Utah (AP) -- A former Morgan County Council administrator has entered not guilty pleas to 43 separate criminal charges stemming from allegations that he misused county funds.
Morgan County prosecutors filed the felony and misdemeanor charges against Garth B. Day last week.
The Standard-Examiner of Ogden reports that Day entered the pleas in 2nd District Court on Monday.
Prosecutors contend they've uncovered at least $400,000 in fraudulent financial transactions by Day. Among the charges filed are theft, communications fraud, forgery, misconduct and money laundering.
The 41-year-old Day was named the county council's first administrator in June 2008. Council Chairman Sid Creager says Day's employment has been terminated.
A preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 20.
