EDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- A Cedar City man has been arrested in the death of a 14-month-old child.
The Deseret News and Salt Lake Tribune report that 24-year-old Thomas Harry Canum III was booked Friday into the Iron County Jail for investigation of child abuse homicide following the child's death on Sept. 28.
Police were called to Valley View Medical Center that day when doctors began to treat the child, who had suffered head injuries.
Police say Canum had been watching the child the night it sustained the injuries, and the injuries were not consistent with Canum's later explanations.
Police also interviewed the child's family before arresting Canum.
A search of Utah court records shows that Canum has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia twice this year.
