(KSL News) Utah is ranked last in the nation in per-student spending, and more education money isn't likely to help.
A report released by the U.S Census Bureau shows Utah spent just over $5,200 per student in 2005. That's nearly $1,000 less than Arizona, which ranks second-to-last.
The Legislature increased public education funding by $216.6 million this year, but that isn't likely to pull us out of last place.
Some of that money will pay for teacher raises and will not be counted toward per-pupil spending.
